Square
Yongqing square
永庆坊
Huacheng Square, or Flower City Square (Chinese: 花城广场), is the largest square in Guangzhou. The square lies on the city axis in Zhujiang New Town and covers an area of 56 hectares, with Haixinsha Island to the south and Huangpu Avenue to the north.
The park offers a long stretch free of high-rise buildings, making it easy to see Canton Tower, built directly on the opposite bank of the river. Besides Canton Tower as the centerpiece, from Huacheng Square you can go directly to the Guangdong Museum, the International Finance Center, the Guangzhou Library, and the Opera House. This stretch of park and paths connects all the main landmarks of Tianhe District in Guangzhou.
Beneath the whole area runs the Guangzhou APM line with its four stations, as well as the Mall of the World shopping center, with many tunnels linking other shopping centers, BRT bus stations, and metro stations.
On the surface, it is a pedestrian zone free of cars and bicycles, with gardens, ponds, and fountains, making it a popular destination for locals and tourists. Especially in the evening, the view of Canton Tower and the other buildings of the Zhujiang New Town central business district with all their light decorations is wonderful.
